Baby O is only awake for 6 hours each day; 8-10, 12-2 and 2-4. She also wakes between 5-6 for a bottle. The husband and I have plenty of time with each other and now we're trying to figure out how to make staying home interesting. Last night, Saturday night, we made dinner, drank wine and watched a crappy movie that we had gotten from netflix. About a year ago, I would have described that as a perfect night. Now we feel trapped at home because we have a baby sleeping upstairs.
At one point we were sitting on the couch reading the newspaper and the husband said "I'm not sure I want to watch a movie, maybe we'll just read our books". I almost lost it. Isn't that what people do once they're old? We need to start taking our parents up on their offers to babysit and get out of the house on the weekends.
I love the girl but my weekend evenings have become a bit boring - what am I to do?
Mama N - You guys just need to put a little more imagination into your at home gig. Use the tomatometer at rottentomatoes.com and get a good film- get some indy ones you can almost never find in a theatre - spring for a mac daddy flat screen, turn off the lights, pop some popcorn and pour some wine. Then once or twice a month, meet for lunch during the workday, when you have childcare anyway... won't cost you extra. You'll get the hang of it!
